Echinacea - plant in groups or singly?

Just that really - I've got 7 small plants, never grown them before so I'm not sure how big they're going to be, and whether they look better massed together or if I can weave them amongst everything else to give some height. I've got lots of clumpy perennials!

I can only get them to grow in pots. Would love to have some in the beds though.

Well I think the slugs are going to have a field day, but I've got copper rings and broken egg shells and a headlamp and a pair of scissors if all else fails so we'll see! What do you think then, plant maybe 3 together? Or give them some space?
