Edwardian check path

I would love to put in a traditional B&W Edwardian path back in my front garden.

Has anyone done this before? ANy good places to get the tiles and is it easy to do?

I also would love to have an edwardian path up to my front door, just wonder if they would be very slippery in wet weather but they are beautiful.
Sorry no idea where to buy them from apart from if you lived in cornwall where my local stockist is West country tile centre, though they have to order them in and they recommend an expert tiler to lay them

when I lived in an Edwardian house (original gravel front) the next-door neighbours had a repro tiled check path put down, which I thought rather slippery in even light drizzle or dew, never mind rain or ice. AFAIK their house had no signs of having a tile path in the past, though the porch was tiled. Mine was terrazzo. I suspect that original Edwardian concrete would not have been rigid enough, so a path would have cracked.

Just done it and tiles cost an absolute fortune. Check this out first as it might make your mind up for you.

Errrr . . . the absolute fortune, I presume! Very expensive just to buy the tiles, even without the installation costs

paneer It might be better to put the money towards DC university education. Edwardian paths are nice but not necessary.

They are easy to buy in reclamation yards, though, especially in towns with Edwardian housing stick eg Cardiff.
