Bulbs and seeds in same planter?

I am a complete novice. I had the garden covered with a material cover and bark last year, but there is a line where some tulips and daffs have started to sprout up. So I got the fork out and am trying to save as many as I can before re-fixing the material.

My Q is, if I get summer blooming seeds, can I just mix them in the same planter while I do the bulbs? Also will they last for more than one year in window boxes?

Depend what seeds / bulbs. If you grow perennials from seed or bulb they will probably come back. Some bulbs (eg tulips have the potential to be perennial (ie come back every year) but often don't (or do grow but don't flower) due to overbreeding. Others like daffodils can be good at naturalising. I'm currently enjoying the last flowers of some cyclamen I planted a couple of years ago which have naturalised in a tricky spot (shade & shallow soil).

What would you like to grow and where?

I have window boxes on the sunny side of the house with a crazy mix of things: grape hyacinth which will soon be in flower, along with some mini-daffs hopefully, lavender a little while later and all being well a mass of nasturtiums should take off when everything else is fading.

Well today I re-planted what I think are tulips/daffs and snowdrops into a long window box. They are all green and not sure which are which! Really I am trying to save them so I can put them into my new garden and they won't just get lost under the matting of this one!
I think I will plant seeds for summer seeds separately now as I only just saw these messages and did my planting/digging this morning!Thanks guys!
