What's going on with my tulips?

I planted tulips in the autumn in a newly created bed. There is still no sign of them. Is this normal?
I have shoots that look like tulips in another bed.

They may just be a slightly later variety - they do vary. My tulips in pots are quite advanced now, but the ones in the ground are barely poking through the soil. What's your soil like? They may have rotted if the soil is very cold and wet but in a new bed that's less likely. Keep hoping!

It is pretty wet. I will keep my fingers crossed though!

Tulips are now starting to appear, so panic over!
