what to do with a half collapsed hedge/bush?

We have quite a large bush in our garden, it's about 7ft tall. Noticed yesterday that it's half collapse from the weight of the snow on it isn't temporary and is actually partially uprooted.

I'm toying with the idea of cutting it right back and then chopping off as much of the trunky bit as i can.
Is this going to end in disaster?

Not sure if it can be saved as the trunk is close to a fence and the hedge grows out at an angle, iyswim, putting all the weight on one side of the trunk.

Any advice for bush destruction?

What is the name of the bush? To keep them looking nice, bushes are usually pruned in a particular way and they are often different.

Depends what it is. If it's a conifer then it won't grow back from the wood if you cut it right back; if it's a buddlia it should be hacked back to a stump every year anyway.

You really need to get it back upright and firm it in again, then cut it back.

I have no idea what it's called, it is big and bushy with green/yellow leaves
It was here when we moved in.

TBH i hate the thing so have no qualms about getting rid of it.
