Anyone else keeping tadpoles in an aquarium?

Got off to a bad start with most of them dying, but have about 25 now healthy & growing.
I don't know when to release them back to the pond.
Any other experiences of what to do right, wrong?

why not just leave them in the pond in the first place ?

I guess as far as releasing them - any time would be fine - just make sure water temp is similar (maybe leave the aquarium outside to acclimatise for a while. And would pick a time when the forecast is for net getting too cold - may be too much of a shock for them if htey have been in a warm house previously.

I've got a big bucket in the garden full of pond water and lots of tadpoles - the ones in our village pond usually get eaten by the fish, ducks and dragon fly larvae, so I thought I'd give some of the poor blighters a chance! Plus my kids think it's fascinating. I guess I'll take them back to the pond when they're almost frogs.
