Which tool do I need?

Hi,

Garden is v overgrown and messy - weeds in between paving slabs, growing out from under hedge, etc, etc. Basically every nook and cranny had something growing out of it. It's like day of the triffids...(my back garden backs onto woodland for info).

Anyway I'd like to do a general basic tidy up and was wondering what tool(s) to get. Would a strimmer type thing be ok to go over the paved bit and chop down the weeds? I'm an absolute beginner but just want to get the garden tidied up a bit before winter.

Any tips, suggestions would be much appreciated.

You need a helper, not a tool. Invest the money in a knowledgeable human being and pick their brain mercilessly while you watch them use their own tools on your jungle.

Well over the weekend BIL has donated a strimmer and a hedgecutter which is good as money is tight at the moment. I will definitely pick his brains make him to it for us as he's very into gardening.
