Help me plan my organic vegetable garden,please!

I am starting on a new adventure.
I have dug out a good part of the intended plot but have still got more to do.
I have a lovely compost heap waiting to use.

What can you recommend that I can plant at this time of year?

Have you any tips?

I have maintained my flower bed for years but I am a novice veg grower so any pointers and ideas gratefully received!

I have got some brussels,broad beans and onions to put in. I'm also considering turnips and potatoes.
Are these a good idea at this time of year?

Any suggestions as to what is reliable to put in for a beginner?

Hi Bossybritches! Have you planted anything yet?

Brussels and onions/garlic yes. No to potatoes as not frost hardy. Broad beans can be sown late autumn or early pring (but check the seed packet since not all varieties are suitable for autumn/spring sowing).

Not too late to sow winter salads, again check the seed packets. Things like corn salad and many oriental salads should be ok. You may also still be ok with oriental spinach.

You can get horticultural fleece for a bit of frost protection.

Oh yes, Bienchen. Garlic too! Good idea!

I've also picked up a few strawberry plants to put in,and I'd love some raspberry canes and perhaps even a gooseberry bush.
