Any Walnut tree experts?

We have a huge walnut tree which has been very prolific for the past 5 years we've been here.

This year, it probably has less than a dozen nuts on it, and worst still, less than half the leaves it normally has.

Please reassure me that this is only due to the weird weather and that we can have walnuts again next year, or am I going to lose my beautiful tree?

i can't say for certain that the weather is at fault but it's certainly true that we've had 'summer' conditions which often weaken a nut crop. If it doesn't look obviously diseased or distressed in any way then to be honest I'd put it down to the weather.

Almost certainly the weather. Last year was a mast year with very high nut yields so trees are recovering from that plus the wet spring has reduced nuts/berries in pareactically every species. My own walnuts are doing nothing this year.

Ir's not the nuts that worry me so much as losing the tree itself, it sits in our field and dominates the view, I would so miss it if it were to go.

Our apple trees are heaving on the other hand!

Mine is pretty nut less and looking particularly poorly too. Poor leaf coverage and poor colour on the leaves it does have. Am too hoping it's just this year's weather and it will be back up and running as the prime supplier of nuts for the squirrels again next year.

we have a walnut tree in our garden as well, and it has been looking poorly with very few nuts and leaves on. we have moved here a few months ago, and i was a little worried that it was something we'd done, or not done...
so it is "good" to read that our tree is not the only one. Poor squirrels though...

I've just been out to look at the tree again. The leaves that are there are spotty and are wilting.
