Any suggestions. At the moment they are full of weeds. I want something that I can put in and leave all year round.

I'm aiming for the same thing and my current obsession is heucheras. Lovely coloured leaves all year round - more attractive than the flowers, really. I have tulip bulbs and ivy in there too.

Oh yes they look nice. Have added to list. Any other suggestions

Cyclamen? For a sunny spot, lavender. Osteospernum. Rosemary (until it gets too big). Ferns for shade. Gaultheria.

Window boxes are not big enough for perennials, except ivy, but that will take the whole box over in time and nothing else will grow - my own experience in tall pots. You will just have to plant winter pansies in winter then any of the summer flowering plants later. Sorry, but that's how it is.
