Best time to

move large shrubs?
We are having an extension built in a few months and I would like to save some large/ huge shrubs. When is the be st time to move them to another part of the garden?

Ideally when dormant (winter but not frosty), second best after flowering and pruning.

If you have to move at other times, take as much of the rootball up as you can, have the new planting hole prepared beforehand, and keep on top of watering for the first few months.
