Killing roots

Hi everyone,

I'm tidying up my garden and have chopped down a big redcurrant bush, along with a raspberry and bramble bush. Garden was looking very scruffy, fruit wasn't great from bushes and as much as I try not to, I actually hate gardening

I was just going to dig up the roots but someone said I should pour salt onto the roots and this kills them. Has anyone heard of this, does it work or shall I just get the spade out (or do both?)

I was to bore a hole in the stump + poor boiling water down it every day for a week. Should kill it + make it easier to lift out the rootball.
