Save my fiscus?

I bought a fiscus houseplant from B and Q about 6 months ago, and it looks terrible. It's lost about 2/3 of its leaves. I think the problem was lack of light (it was in a dark hallway) so I've moved it into the sitting room. Is there anything else I can do? Thank you!

And how long will it take to recover?

Is it in a very small pot? Lots of houseplants are sold in tiny pots and it may be that it is root-bound and has used all the nutrients in what little compost it had. It might also have disliked the draughts in a hallway - many plants do.

Which variety is it? Assuming you mean it's a ficus, there's some advice from the RHS here.
