Complete novice attempting to grow veg...

...well, hopefully I will be soon anyway!

I know nothing at all about gardening. Every year I stick compost in pots and plant some geraniums - that and mowing the lawn is the extent of my knowledge! I have no idea what type of soil I have in my garden or what veg need, but I'm willing to learn...can anyone point me in the direction of any good books or websites for complete beginners? Thanks!

The weekend gardener by Monty Don is very good and started me off on gardening, which I'm now obsessed with!

I am a complete novice too but have just invested in a raised bed and some soil to attempt a veggie patch! Hopefully they will arrive shortly and I can get it underway though I have only just realised that the growing season has passed.... I bought some seeds online tonight though to try to grow something anyway! Good luck!
