Artificial grass over a small area - thoughts on it please

I know nothing of this but DH suggested it for part of our small garden to replace the shingle - which looks nice but is a pain for eldest two DC and will not suit DC3 when starts crawling/tooling.
No one in our row has real grass as it does not do well due to the angle sunlight reaches it so the artificial grass might make sense but I don't know anyone who has it so would appreciate thoughts thanks

We are planning to cover our lower patio with artificial grass. Our garden also has a high tier of decking which is a storey high so a bit unsuitable for the dc. I think the fake grass will be a good play surface and looks real until up close especially when not side by side to actual grass. And NO mowing! Can't think which company we were looking at... Will have a look for the sample.
