My pansies are going brown and withered. They are in nice pots. Should I clear them out or will they come back next year?

plant them straight into the garden. Have you been deadheading them regularly as they will get all long and stringy if you dont? They should come back next year.

After you've cut them back, sieve a bit of compost over them so that they are slightly (not totally) buried. They will root from the buried stems and you'll have bigger, stronger plants next year.

Wow I have always thought they were annuals, I have been chucking on the compost heap and buying new for years... Dam it.

Well, they can get really tatty by the end of the year and if you haven't got the time and inclination to rejuvenate them, the compost heap may be your best bet!
