Is anyone growing angelica right now?

I put 4 new plants in this spring - in shady spots- and am disappointed that they are still barely two feet high. The nursery told me they would grow to 7 feet this season.
They are a type of biennial- yes? so does this mean I have to wait for the growth spurt next year?

they need plenty of water - although i can't imagine that's been a problem this year. Mine get bigger and bigger by the year. Do they look reasonably healthy?
