wooden playhouse

Not sure where to put this so feel free to re-direct me! We have a tiny London garden ( about 36 ft) so every square inch has to be used well. DD (6) wants a wooden playhouse, and we can squeeze in a 6 by 4 version with a ladder and veranda which is aesthetically acceptable ( just!).

Do you/did you have one and is/was it worth the investment in time/money/installation hassle?) (I have thought of getting a small summer house instead so that I could use it when she outgrows it, for example.) Bit worried that it will just become a paradise for spiders and not get used at all after the first flush of excitement.

Any thoughts welcome!

No ,i wouldn't buy one.I had an inherited one from my sister that was used for my 4 dc's and then passed on to a friend of mine with an unexpected 3rd child[who had already given hers away].It was a tacky plastic Little Tikes one though and not aesthetically beautiful.I can vaguely remember the urge to but beautiful things for my PFB though[however most dc's prefer brightly coloured plastic].Now i would rather pay for school fees and piano lessons btw.

We bought a lovely wooden one for DS2 for his birthday last year when he was 7, he loves it and plays in it a lot. He's put his MP3 and speakers in there and a few books, he even takes his shoes off before he goes in (wish he would do the same for the house). When his friends come over they all play in it.

But he had been asking for one for a few years and he used to make designs and give them to a friend of ours who was quite handy with a tool kit and ask him to make him one, so it was a much wanted present.

Thanks all. Sort of confirms what I thought. Might hold off for a while and see how it goes!
