I have just gone into the poly tunnel to transplant seeds and look at my mums handiwork, She a potted up and mixed up my mangetout, garden pea, broad beans and sweet pea Confused According to Mum the sweet peas turn back into peas anyway Hmm

Oops - not very good 'helping' there. Are they still in pots or has she put them out into the ground? I guess if in pots you should at least be able to sort the broad beans & sweet peas from the regular peas before planting out . . . Otherwise I guess you just have to sort as you pick & hope the mangetout are noticeably different from the podding peas!

They do look very different from regular pea pods though (completely different species, Lathyrus not Pisum, more a vetch type pod) - I wouldn't let a child pick them if there was a possibility of mix-up, but there shouldn't be an issue so long as you do the picking and are aware of the problem.
