Anti slip paint for decking

Our decking is in a bad way. We need to clean it up and then would like to coat it with some anti slip paint. Has anyone done this and if so, which product did you use, and are you pleased with the results ?

I'd be interested to know if there is a suitable product.

Podkin,you are a goddess!
I have been meening to research this for ages in view of fab new decking we are planning for the summer, and in view of the fact that dh nearly killed himself on the decking we already had a few weeks ago.
(Mind you, with the way i feel about him today,I may well hoold back...)

We have given ours a clean as it was like an ice rink - several years worth of 'stuff' on in. DP jet washed it and I went over it with a stiff brush and some cleaner. It's not bad but still a bit slippery so some anti slip paint would go down a treat. www.protectakote.co.uk/index.htm looks not bad but the paint is in garish colours. I'd prob go for dark green meself...

Ah,that's interesting! I think a lot depends on how it is laid doesn't it?
One will collapse and break one's neck when executing speedy moves in the direction of the grooves.

podkin · 27/03/2006 11:10

yes you do tend to skid along the grooves. a nice covering of algae and worm crap doesn't help...

i would suggest a wood stain
paint peels in time with water and it would look really messy
