Just been out frantically staking lupins and even my Rhus tree. I am too late with some stuff, it's broken off at the base of the stem Sad .

What's with wind this strong in mid-June?

S. Hants, btw.

So far mine has survived in tact apart from every bloom having been blown off the wisteria and my garden being covered in oak leaves from the Ilex that border the right of my garden. When it stops blowing i will be hoovering them up to make leaf mould so at least they wont be wasted.

I've got some asparagus and potatoes in tall planter sacks which happen to be in a bit of a wind tunnel area, bit worried about them. Also my bean poles are way over and I think I need to lash them to something solid. Otherwise ok though (watford herts)

Have had whole rosebuds blown off climbing roses here Sad

Woke up to see my sweet pea obelisk half way across the garden which had blown over taking the sweet peas with it!

The trees in my garden are quite small but my neighbours 30ft maple looked seriously dangerous last night as it is so laden with leaves Shock

I also had rosebuds blown off a climbing rose BCBG Sad

Never known anything like it!!

My lupins have snapped off, very upset, I loved looking at them out of my kitchen window.

As a garden pleb, only just planted this year and know nothing, what do I do now they have snapped off? Leave them to mulch, cut them down?

I'm glad I'm not actually at home this week; think I would be really upset to see things being damaged. I go back next week and can just assess it calmly in one go. There are leaves all over the lawn where I'm staying.

Think of it as a natural Chelsea chop? (mrsRoger) I'm trying yo be philosophical too.

My asparagus (taking the brunt of the wind tunnel) only have one or two growing shoots per crown though. I'm just not sure it's enough to feed the crown for a crop next year.

some of my sweetcorn plants have broken Sad
