Some advice for my dried out grass please.....

I live in a 1 yr old house and after mowing the lawn yesterday, realised that a lot of the lawn was very dry.....yellow looking.
Most of the grass around the shed has completely disappeared and I am now left with muddy patches instead.

  1. How can I get my grass looking green again?
  2. What can I do about the turf areas where grass ceases to exist?

I am a very novice gardener and help would be gratefully appreciated :)

Thanks for the advice, I will get some grass seed later in the year and hopefully it will sort it out.

When did you move in? Was the turf already down? Builders are notorious for leaving a load of old crap in gardens, putting thin layer of top soil on top, turfing it so it looks lovely, then of course it all dies back. But if you've been in a while this may not be what's happened...
