Which pots?

Right - I'm slowly cracking on with my decking project. The plants are chosen but now need to get the pots.

I'm stuck between sticking with large terracotta pots or perhaps going with a more modern style. Or even coloured glazed pots??

I am aiming for a peaceful deck where I can relax at the end of the day. Decking colour will remain natural and the planting colour scheme is white and green. Think large architectural plants (palm fern, bamboo, fatsia, fig etc).

Any ideas? Tips? Preferences?

Some glazed pot colours date, e.g. that dark blue that was so trendy for a while.

For some vibrant pot colours, which would mean you painting them, google Jardin Majorelle; the blue, aqua and yellow are stunning.

Yes - that's the thing - I don't want something that'll date - I know it's only garden stuff but big pots are pretty pricey so I want them to last.

Am erring on the side of simple italian terracotta pots...

Simple terracotta pots on the patio here. For my money the best thing (apart from being so timeless) is that if you want to add another or you break one and need to replace it, you can find one that matches in any garden centre or DIY store.
