Tomatoes into the greenhouse yet???

My toms have sprouted beautifully on the kitchen windowsill and are soon to outgrow their pots - going great guns!

I'd rather not repot now and then put into grow bags in a couple of weeks, quite like to just do the process once, but is it too soon? I could probably hang on another week (maximum) before they must be moved out of their current pots due to their size.

Seedlings approx 20cm tall.

TIA

I'm a complete amateur and dont have a clue what i'm doing but was wondering if it was ok to buy more plants and keep them inside as mine were in a green house oing really well and then ddied overnight when we had a frost! So amybe wait til thee weather more predictable?

Whereabouts in the country are you? It'll make a big difference whether you're in Devon or Aberdeenshire!

My tomatoes have been in a little plastic cold frame thing on the patio for a month now, and they're fine. They're about 20 cm tall now, and doing fine.

Mine are in an unheated greenhouse, it slows their growth but at this time of year they are fine.

Essex. I think I am going to put them out this week, will buy my grow bags tomorrow.

Would I be OK to keep my seedlings in the shed? I don't have a greenhouse or cold frame but they are getting too big for the kitchen windowsill. Tomatoes and chillis if it makes a difference.

no you can't keep them in the shed - where would they get their light? They would die.

Smile that looked a bit panicked. The shed is three times the size of an ordinary shed [proud] with big windows.
Moot now anyway, I repotted them into a tray that had lobelia in and they are on the kitchen windowsill still. Just got a bit more root space.

I put all 33 tomato plants in the greenhouse before Easter. They have survived and are looking good. The greenhouse is unheated but it still gets quite warm in there. I'm in North Wales.

If putting outdoors, don't put straight into grobags. You need to get them used to being in a colder environment. About a week of putting out during the day and in at night.
