Mowing recently-laid turf

We laid some turf about a month ago - it's growing fantastically well due to the recent weather! My dh is looking rather keen to give it a trim but I'm not sure if this is advisable yet? Any advice welcomed. TIA.

A whole month! I did mine after 3 days...You really should mow it, but don't take too much off the first time. Then wait another three dys and take off a little more, and so on until you get to 3cm. After that try not to let it get longer than around 5cm. The more you mow it the better and more lush it will be Smile

Thank you, MJ. My dh will be delighted to hear it!

I'm in the don't mow just yet camp.

I mowed my newly laid turf after 10 days as it looked so healthy, and nearly killed it because it hadn't yet laid roots into the soil beneath the turf. You are meant to try and lift up a corner I believe. If it lifts up easily then don't mow just yet. If firmly rooted then mow.

Right, I'll try that tomorrow, FP. By the look of the weather, it won't get cut for a while anyway!
