After trying unuccesfully to grow stuff at the old house, and being on the verge of giving up, I thought I'd try once more now I've movd house and got a more sunny garden, in the vain hope it was lack of light rather than my gardening skills.

I ahve 2 apple trees and a pear tree and they are growing really well, the blueberry plants I hadnt watered for a year as I thought they were dead have started growing, the herbs I treated the same way have startd again. :) :)

However, tomatoes and peppers died overnight, this was after 2 nights of frost though, is this why?

Also, with regards to feeding - the feed I have is liquid that you need to the water in the watering can, it says use twice a week. However we have had loads of rain so I'm thinking if you can't water twice a week becasue doing so would be overwatering how do you feed them enough?!

Also I am struggling to grow even cress which I remember growing as a child - I ahve tried compost, damp cotton wool and a damp facecloth, but it also starts to go mouldy at the bottom! I am careful not to overwater.

And, I had some seeds that say they can be grown in conatiners - they are called patio plants - but I think they ahve overcrowded them, if using approx 30 cm pots, how many seeds per pot _suppose it depends on what i am growing to some extent - i am doing spinach, carrot, lettuce and spring onion, spring onions were oing well til DS1 knocked pot over, lettuce doing well but not much space in pot - and well the otehr pots, I forgot to label, have a ot of growth but all look the same and not sure which are carrota nd which are spinach! Confused Blush

Carrots & spinach have quite different leaves so will look different as the grow. Spinach leaves are smooth & carrots are fluffier if that helps.

Were the tomatoes & peppers outside? They do better under cover as they don't like getting cold.

I do cress on kitchen roll.
