What climber would work well with a 'tropical' plants?

Following on from this thread I am now turning my thoughts to climbers.

Have fencing round the decking which I'd like to get a couple of climbers up.
As most of the container plants are going to be leafy rather than flowery I was thinking that perhaps something with a white flower would look good and help the planting stand out.

Would roses look odd? I like the look of the iceberg climbing rose. I'm not overly keep on clematis.

Any ideas/advice/

I'm also stuck about what colour pots to put all my plants in - I'm stuck between terracotta or a more modern look. Have chairs like these if that helps with the overall look that I'm aiming for...

Thanks

Solanum jasminoide?

Akebia quinata not white but definitely tropical looking. Aka chocolate vine Grin
