Mice in my composter

Opened my composter to see a mouse scuttling back under the grass and kitchen waste. Friend says apparently it's a good thing as it means the compost is nutrient rich. Just the small brown mouse type, not rats or anything.

Any experience? Do I need to do anything? Was planning on leaving the compost till next summer as it was emptied last year. Am a bit worried if they breed and I end up with hundreds, or if they die and my com poster starts to pong....

Given the number of cats in the neighbourhood, I'm surprised to see any mice, tbh...

Water it. The compost, not the mouse Wink. Mice don't like it when it's v damp. We had the same problem but they soon went.
