Echinacea

Ok.... Total novice at this gardening lark and would appreciate some advice. Last year, we started 'making an effort' in the garden and I planted an echinacea in a part sunny/part shady spot. It died back over winter, and now, where it was, I have tiny reddish leaves poking through. Am not sure if that is new echinacea growth, or a weed! The corner where it was planted had previously been quite overgrown with weeds incl some bramble type stuff (although it hadn't got very established, thankfully). What do people think? When I look at pics of full grown echinaceas the stems look reddish ...
TIA

I'd leave it for a while and see what happens!!!

Yep, sounds like Echinacea, it comes up reddish, and now is precisely the time it will be emerging (if mine is anything to go by).
