Replanting front garden

daisie4 · 19/02/2012 10:12

We cleared our front garden last summer and planted a circle of lawn in the autumn which has taken really well. The next stage is to plant the borders with mainly shrubs (I think) and a little hedge around the lawn circle. What is the best time to do this, we haven't even dug it yet as it seems so wet.
Thanks!

Shrubs should be planted in the autumn or the spring. Leave it until the soil has warmed up a bit, but you'll have to play this by ear. You can plant them anytime in fact but they will get a better start if the soil is warmer. so- around end of march/ April.

Thanks Amelia, gives me a bit more time for planning, sounds like the Easter holidays will be a good time.
