Saw an amazing walled garden

While property hunting this week, I viewed a cottage near Shrewsbury and was knocked out by a stunning walled garden. The area was 1 acre and the walls looked over 10 feet high. What really astonished me was that the wall had fireplaces in, which were to keep the vines and pear trees warm as they grew up the wall! It also had a huge gateway for horses and carriages and still had the name plates with the plant names on! There were doves roosting in it too. I am not even much of a gardener but can't stop thinking about it. I really wanted to buy it just for the wall!

The kiss of the sun for pardon and song of the birds for mirth one's nearer gods heart in the garden than anywhere else on earth.
Yep I can fully understand that...I did buy the place???and it cost me a fortune to pay a gardener to keep it even tidy.. and all of the different gardeners never managed to keep it looking as good as it had looked when I first saw it..My conclusion was ...a devoted gardener had tended it..in my case the wife/mother. But! what I will say is...I read books, and took over the plant care..I have from that designed gardens, even knowing the names of plants and how they grow..size..shape...blar blar..So a case of both good and bad idea...How much time have you???I ended up...all too often...with the house - inside- looking like a bomb had dropped..but the garden was great and the kids even got involved and took an interest lol...

I would love a walled garden. I would probably buy a house for a walled garden...
