What is eating my bulbs?

About 3 weeks ago I filled 3 terracotta plant pots, around 10 inches high with tulip and iris bulbs. Checking them yesterday it looks like something has been burrowing in them and the bulbs are lying on top of the compost. But the bulbs now seem to be empty as though something has eaten their insides. I did see a hedgehog in the garden last week - would it have eaten my bulbs? Could it even get into one of the pots? Can they climb? Hmm

slugs?

squirrels?

Probably dug up by squirrels or a fox (if there is an intact hens egg in the pot it was a fox) but the bulb eating was most likely weevils or leatherjackets (baby daddy long legs)

I too think it's squirrels. When I planted bulbs in a pot last year, I noticed something had dug them up, then spotted a squirrel in the garden the next day! Bit too much of a coincidence, as I had not spotted him before.
