New Apple tree

Well bush really, we have lived here for two years and I have just noticed a bush which is kind of entwined with another one has started growing apples, loads of them Confused. Why would this only happen after 2 years? It doesn't look very tree like either.

Are you sure it's an apple 'bush' and not a quince? This link to Moneysavingexpert has some pictures of quinces if you scroll down. I have one in my front garden and the fruit is very apple-like... makes lovely jelly :)
