Is it too late to plant potatoes?

I planted potatoes back in April/May, which are now all flowering. I was thinking maybe I could get some more in which would be ready around September. Everything I can read says to plant them when the last frosts have passed - is there any reason they wouldn't do well if I planted them now?

You will need a different type of potato I think to plant now, there's also a greater risk of blight which first earlies (which you are likely to have) avoid. But you might live in a less blight ridden area in which case it might not get you at all.

I will be planting second crop potatoes in July (sometimes called Christmas potatoes). The varieties for these are generally the early/waxy type (which I like).
