Roses for growing up obelisk in pot

I know nothing about roses to be honest, but am finding myself increasingly attracted to them, so want to give one a go this year.

I saw some in a garden centre in pots growing up an obelisk and they looked beeeeautiful. I had no time to make notes of the roses as the dcs were all over the place but I think that's what I want to do. But do I get climbers or ramblers?

Go for a a climber that will be happy in a container - ramblers would generally tend to be too big and unruly for a pot I would have thought. Its worth a look on this site:

tons of choice and it will tell you what is suitable for your situation. I have 'the generous gardener' which is a climber from here and its gorgeous.

That site has a useful bit where it just tells you four of the best for a particular situation. It is handy for beginner numptees. thank you.
