Why are foxes obsessed by our new turf?

We remodelled the front garden in January. We (or some big burly men) removed 4 conifers and a huge mound of earth and concrete on one half of the garden. The grass had to be replaced so we turfed it over. Ever since it, and the small bed, is dug up by a fox on an almost nightly basis. We have an electronic fox-guard that has worked fine elsewhere, we have put net over it, used 'Silent Roar' pellets but we can't stop it. The other side of the garden that has not been touched by us and is grassed over is never touched by the fox.

We're starting to think we'll have to pave it over because it looks a wreck every morning.

So does anyone have any idea what is happening here and what we can do to stop it or will we have to admit defeat?

Was it grown on chicken manure?

Did you by any chance put blood, fish or bonemeal fertiliser down before or after laying turf? I put it on garden once and foxes dug it up, local garden shop said they do that, must think there is some meat down there.

No, it's not on chicken manue and I can't imagine that DH has sneaked in some blood/fish/bonemeal fertiliser on it.

Is there any way to stop it?
