When to completely change the garden

Our garden is currently a mix of lawn, flower beds, paths, rockery and patio. We want to get rid of all of this (except the patio) and just have grass, replacing the large shed that is almost at the end of the garden with a smaller one, actually at the end.

When would be the best time of year to do this? DD is 6 months old at the moment, so too young for slides amd the like this year, but next year I can see the garden being filled with plastic stuff!

It is a good time of year for grass seeding so if you really want to rip out all your flower beds there is no time like the present.

Are you not tempted to keep some of the flowers? Sad
