Stuff growing - but I didn't plant it!

Just got round to weeding some of the veg patch I didn't get round to digging up the first time round. There in a neat row are some nice green leafy things. Pull one up - there is a teeny tiny parsnip attached.

So, these are obviously left over from the last people who had the garden.

What should I do? Leave them? Dig them up? Eat them?

Lots of stuff has roots like that - parsnips, trendy yellow carrots, parsley... If you really don't know what it is then if it's out of the way I;d leave it in and see what happens; if it's in the way then I'd dig it up. If it is parsnips though and they are teeny tiny after a winter in the ground then I wouldn't bother growing them again!
