The bees have woken up in my neck of the woods and my garden is slowly but surely teeming with them. However, there's quite a few just sat on the lawn and the terrace, not buzzig about canoodling with the flowers. Something in the back of my mind is saying to me that they need something perk them up? Something I half read last year? Am I going mad or is this right? And if so, how can I help my lovely little buzzy friends?

They probably need the weather to warm up a bit more and a few more flowers open before they really get going. Are you thinking in terms of saucers of sugary water to give them a bit of vim?

That's the puppy - worth doing you reckon? Or let nature plod on?

I've popped some jam on a saucer in the past for those that seem a little lost, it certainly does the trick! Good luck, and keep us posted! Smile

DH stuck some honey in front of an ailing bumble bee last spring. It seemed to feed on it for hours and perked up a bit. Next morning it was dead Hmm Confused Shock

Ha ha smartarse At least he tried! I was going to do it today but it's absolutely shitting chucking it down out there and there's not even the feintest bzzzzz to be heard. When it dries up though, I shall start the Beevolution Grin

Wasps like sugary water just as much, of course... Not so nice to have them buzzing about.

I was always told that wasps didn't come into the season until July/August? Here's hoping I'm right Confused
