DH has gone mad with the birdfeed over the past year that we've been here. No problem with that (well, not a big problem with that..!). He has hung all the feeding stations on an old, not very productive apple tree. I say 'old' but I mean 'a bit tatty'. House is only 13 years old!
Garden is 5m x 10m, with the obligatory oblong of grass and 6' wooden fences all around.

Now, thing is, the border around the lawn (a metre wide at most), under that apple tree has been hammered flat- by birds feet! As well as the few bigger plants being swamped in bird poo and melted fat-ball detritus. Nice.

But who'd've thought BIRDS feet could flatten and compact soil? But they have!
