How often do you sweep up your leaves?

The Autumn battle commences! First year here we thought we'd let them all fall down, then sweep them up! What a mistake! 6' piles of v.heavy soggy mulch!

The conker leaves are coming now, Ash on the way & when we think they're all down, the oak will start! We can't have a big bonfire because the trees would catch fire!

Leaf mulch anyone?

dh has got a gadget - this thing that you hold and sucks them up. we get a zillion every day on our lawn in autumn.

never. i don't have a garden

We used to but we have too many leaves. We now have a petrol powered leaf blower, gets them off the gravel drive & into a large heap, but then we have to burn them slowly in dustbins.

I think we should keep blowing them out in the road!

Mine are lying on the lawn atm and there's plenty more to follow! If they're on grass one thing you can do is run over them with a lawnmower that collects clippings. They get all minced up and take up less space. I might try black plastic bags this year - you can by an accelerant from Wiggly Wigglers that helps them mulch down faster.

Have made leaf mould for last 7 years. Fanastic soil improver. Put leaves in black bag - like suedoim - If they are not dampish (they usually are!) wet them. prick holes in the bag and put in a safe place for a year or two. I've used it after a year when I've really needed lots of organic matter but 2 is better.

We keep some, but would fill up too many bags. One year we filled up an entire estate car boot with some for a friends allotment, kep some for us, and then.......

DS said "It's snowing leaves" this morning!

Still, I LOVE Autumn
