best online shop for plants?

I haven't bought plants online before but have become increasingly hacked off with the quality of plants from my local nursery. So... any recommendations please?

I have looked at Crocus and Jacksons so far and found that Crocus was twice the price of Jacksons. Don't know if this means Crocus give better quality or if Jacksons is better value for the same product!

Anyone got a favourite and trusted online retailer they'd recommend please?

I've used parkers

HellinArcher · 14/01/2011 18:25

thanks corn - are Parkers just bulbs though, or more mature plants? their prices are amazing if buying more mature plants.

bulby type things!

cornslik · 14/01/2011 19:08

they are very cheap

catinthehat2 · 14/01/2011 19:08

I tend to look at it plant by plant and buy accordingly.
eg, I bought a particular kind of globe artichoke from here

It was an unusual variety, an enormous plant, very well priced, well packed and arrived promptly.

I buy hedging stuff from Buckingham Nurseries

etc

etc

Burncoose are great but not cheap.

Realseeds are fab if you want to buy seed (and run by an MNer so they especially deserve your business Wink)

Dobies and Cobhams were what we used to use when we were hort students (but not sure if they do mail order)

IlsaLund · 14/01/2011 19:26

malachysmum - readseeds are fabulous.

I've used them for the past 3 years and been delighted with nearly everything I've ordered.

CRocus.co.uk are excellent - the plant chooser function is great, and their garden design service is brilliant value.

SugarSkyHigh · 16/01/2011 16:58

I've used crocus - excellent. Also excellent is hayloft plants. don't know the web address off hand but i'm sure it will be at the top if you google hayloft plants
