Petrol cultivators - any experience?

I'm thinking of getting a petrol cultivator to use on my allotment. Has anyone any experience of these please? It needs to be fairly small so that I can take it backwards and forwards in my car. There is a thieving problem on the field so I cant leave it in my shed there.

The one I am looking at is a Handy Mini-tiller - any opinions/experience on these?

I've only used the big ones and they're hard work but they get the job done quickly.

You only need to cultivate once in a blue moon - wouldn't it be better to hire a really decent one for a day or two?

Hi KATTT, thanks, after much thought I went for a 3.5hp tiller. I have been using it on a property I'm developing with my DH. It made a good job of the vegetable patch.

My allotment will need cultivating twice a year so I'm hoping that this will work out to be a reasonable deal. There are ten 14 foot by 4 foot beds so it will be nice to get these done quickly.

Good luck!
