Moving prepared hyacinth bulbs

I have some prepared hyacinth bulbs I'd like to give as Christmas gifts and have read that if I want them in flower for Christmas I need to pot them in September.

My problem is I'd quite like to pot them in antiquey style containers, and am going to a vintage sale on 1st Oct, can't get anywhere for this sort of thing before then.

So, what do I do? Leave the potting until 1st Oct or pot in something else this week and then transfer when I get the nice containers?

Advice much appreciated.
