Spider nest

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but will try here first.

So, the other day our window cleaner noticed a rather odd looking spider on the back gate. It is about 4-5cm across with a big round bottom. It has reddy brown legs and body, bottom is brown/coffee coloured and the whole thing is shiny.

Today I have found two 'funnel' shaped webs under the struts of the back gate and the spider with a perfectly round white nest (with lots of white blobs in it), in the gap between the hinges and the fence post.

We have been known to have UK funnel web spiders in this area, so I'm not surprised, but what the hell do I do with it??? I don't generally kill spiders but then again, I don't really want thousands of the bloomin things running around my back garden.

Any suggestions?

That was my initial reaction Grin. Perhaps I will suggest DH gets his gardening gloves out....

sorry that wasn't very helpful but I would be terrified if I had that in my garden and would be getting someone not a scaredy puss to out them all to their death!
