I could sell you my husband. He is green (in ideology, not hue).He isn't large though.

My ones on my hearth are from a garden centre type place on ebay. They are about 2ft diameter.

AlisonDubois · 06/08/2010 10:34

Thanks..think I'll pass on the husband but will try garden centres online.

What is a green man, I'm a gardener and haven't a clue...lol @ the offer of a green DH.

Alby Crafts at Alby, Norfolk on the Norwich to Cromer Road. Obviously no good if you're nowhere near!

Google the Pilton Green Man Festival (North Devon) where the GM is celebrated, and you may well find links, local potteries etc. A Green man is just that, someone dressed as a giant Green Man, the green being foliage etc, all very fertility rites/circle of life stuff. It has it's roots in pagan festivals and merged with the Church. There are many examples in the masonary in Churches. He can look a bit gargoyle like!

They do make striking terracotta garden ornaments etc.

This shop has the most amazing resin green men. It's also a lovely shop anyway, sometimes I go to Norwich specially for that and some waffles at the waffle house...

Thanks for all your great advice...thought somebody on here would be able to help Smile.
Will follow all your links.

JackieNo...have just been on sites you reccommended and the look great. But, the sizes are strange. The gren man classed as massive is only 300mm x 300mm. Thats like 30 cm...that is not huge, unles you are talking about cocks. Am I reading this wrong?

No, you're right, they don't seem to be that big. Sorry!

JackieNo · 06/08/2010 21:56

\link{http://spiritofthegreenman.co.uk/sotg/spirits/verylargegm/verylargegm.htm\This one is 70cms}, but not available mail order.
Everything else, even if labelled 'large' seems to be smaller. Maybe you could comission someone to make one for you?

AlisonDubois · 06/08/2010 21:57

I need something really, really big, that will take up the wall of our garage, any ideas. BTW it does not have to stne, can be plastic, resin, whatever.

Don't know - maybe you could commission someone to come and paint a mural on it?
