Wasps Nest!

I've just spotted a whole load of wasps going into a crack in the mortar, just by our window.

I'll probably call the local enviromental health people on Monday, but DH wants to do something in the meantime.

I've read that Rentokil powder is the best, but does can anyone tell me where I can buy it on the high street or make another recommendation?

we got nippon wasp nest foam today from aldi's for 1.99, its a foam that seals them in their nest! Not used it yet but dh will later..............

we had one very recently
called the council (pest control) who would remove them cheaply (about £36) but would take ages
Called another company who came out immediately and did it for £50 - I'll figure out which one if you want me too

Do check they have not flown up inside the cavity wall and built a nest in your attic.

Dont do it though if sensitive to wasps.

Our council wasp man told me all they use is ant powder in a special blower device that blasts he powder on to and around the nest.

You can do it yourself if you are brave. Best done very early morning while cold before they emerge.

We had 3 last year and got them blasted by the professionals.
Quite hard to get to , right in eaves of roof space.
Went up there late a night to investigate, shone a torch over to the dark corner to see what was going on, and boy did it piss those wasps tight off!
Me and DH practically fell down the loft ladder in out efforts to escape! Was quite funny in retrospect, but please do be careful if you decide to tackle it yourself.

Tbh, there could be anything up in the loft, I've only peeked up there once and spotted a spider the size of my hand (and this from some metres away ).

DH did mention he wanted to hunt out some old vinyl from there, so perhaps DS and I will go out....

Thanks Stealth, I think we might see how Eleanorsmum gets on with the Aldi stuff, give that a try tomorrow and start ringing round Monday if necessary.

I hate wasps, we'll have to get rid otherwise I'll be avoiding the garden and keeping all windows closed for the rest of the year.

well it seems to have worked! dh squirted them twice and then bunged up a hole in the wall with sillicon and tissues! seem to have stopped. will be checking the loft though.................

We decided to go down the same route eleanorsmum, bought some powder from B&Q for a couple of quid, squirted a load in last night and we've only seen one since. Fingers crossed!

Still not ventured into the loft though
