Can you reuse compost?

Title says it all really - can you reuse compost? I'm assuming it has lost all of its nutrients, but is it of any benefit to dig it into your own soil, can it be added to your compost heap or something like that?

Also, how long does compost take to form in a compost bin? We've been a bit short of grass cuttings to add to ours due to the dry weather so have been relying on veggie waste, bits of cardboard etc. Would old compost hurry it up or does it make absolutely no difference?

Thanks!

Why not? What else are you going to do with it?
