First choice Uni confirmed a month before BTEC results via UCAS

DD has had her first choice confirmed via the UCAS site as above. Why is this?

It’s Falmouth (Brighton Waterbear) which is a music/performing arts Uni.

She’s thrilled but nervous. What’s behind the scenes - are they just taking students without knowing their results?

When you say confirmed, what has she been told? I mean sounds like time to celebrate but let’s just make sure 😀

You mean they made it unconditional?

Thanks both, let me do a screenshot

What do you think?

Something similar happened to DD 3 years ago, her offer was conditional on her diploma results and her GCSE maths, after the diploma results she received Confirmed from UCAS a week before the GCSE results came out.
We thought it was a mistake but it wasn’t, she did get in (despite missing maths yet again) we assume they had places to fill at that stage and decided the GCSE wasn’t critical.
Hope it’s the same for your DD!

This is being reported in other places too - BTEC students are getting their uni places confirmed today, it seems!

I agree with others, looks as though they want to take her and either her provisional Btec grades are enough (surely she has a bead on what she got through CW?) or they are just happy based on other factors? I mean music performance will rely a lot on her musical ability I guess, and presumably she has submitted evidence or had an audition of some kind?

Mate of DD's was accepted on to his course (tho this was on results day) so assumed he had got XXX grades, but in fact his results fell short but all the cohort was accepted anyway – it was a niche course at a less-popular uni.

Sounds like great news, well done her!

Okay that seems pretty clear - she’s in! 🎉🎉🎉

WoollyandSarah · Today 20:32

Has she auditioned or got music grades that might count towards her place?

Halfbeaklily · Today 20:37

Universities get the results a week before the students do, so this might be why. Either they have messed up with their automated systems or they've decided just to go ahead and let them know.
At least that's how it works for A levels.

Oh thank you, you lovely lot! She showed me the UCAS update tonight when I got home from work and has been chewing the insides of her cheeks because she just can’t believe it.

Yes @WoollyandSarah tbh it’s mostly ability and performance based. She’s got all the Eng/Maths under her belt and has done several music auditions.

Thanks again everyone
