Only space for 1/3 students at 6th form leavers formal

This feels really wrong. Ds2 is in year 13 and his 6th form college have announced this week that they are doing a "formal", similar to a prom, for the year 13's. But only 1/3 of them can go. Surely you let everyone come, or don't do one. Tickets are about to go on sale so ds is frantically pressing the refresh button and hoping he and his friends get spaces.

They could boycott the official one and organise their own.

It may be they know from experience that only 1/3 will want to go, and thus that is the size space they book.

This is madness. Strange that the students aren’t organising it though? At DD’s school and most others near us there is an elected formal committee of around 5/6 students who sort everything and book the venue. The head of sixth form just oversees things

I thought it was a bit weird that students weren't organising it as well.
